Five free resources for equipment buyers

Tips for buyers Comment

Planning to buy heavy equipment or trucks this year? You’ve come to the right place. Ritchie Bros. is the world’s largest seller of used equipment—and you’ll always find a massive selection of used AND new equipment in our current inventory.

Whether you’re buying equipment at one of our unreserved public auctions, through Ritchie Bros. EquipmentOne (a secure online marketplace for private sales) or another channel, take advantage of these five free resources for equipment buyers.

1. Auction results

Create your free account on our website and you’ll gain access to two years of equipment selling prices through auction results. Filter by year, equipment type, make and model, and check high, low and median selling prices for 645,000+ items, from bobcats to cranes.

Because Ritchie Bros. auctions are unreserved, auction results give you a good idea of current market values—and how much to pay when you buy.

Tip: when you find an item you’d like to buy in our current inventory, just click “Selling prices of similar items” to access auction results.

2. Equipment specifications

Want to know the maximum cutting height of different Caterpillar excavators, or the shipping length of a specific John Deere dozer?

Check RitchieSpecs, a database of free equipment specifications for 11,500+ different classes of equipment—a helpful resource when you are planning to buy or ship equipment.

3. Shipping estimator

Buying and shipping a piece of equipment from another city, state and even country may be more cost-effective than buying locally, especially when equipment supply is tight.

Before you buy, use the free shipping estimator on our website to estimate your transportation costs, and determine how much you are willing to pay to make the purchase worthwhile.

Already purchased an item at one of our auctions? We’ve partnered with uShip to make it easy for you to find the best transporters at the lowest prices. Submit a free request for shipping quotes on our website, which is linked to uShip, and you’ll get competing quotes from multiple transporters. It’s that easy!

Just search our current inventory for the item you want to buy. Make your search specific (late model Peterbilt 385 sleeper truck tractors) or general (articulated dump trucks in North America). Then simply click “save search” and make sure you sign up for email alerts under “preferences” in your online account.

i think that offering a detailed inspection report would be of value
since i live three hours away from Toronto and more than eight hours from Montreal the report would save someone like myself the time and cost of driving to the yards
or maybe you already do and i just have not found it yet thanks dan
