US$190+ million of equipment sold at Dubai, Fort Worth, Grande Prairie, and Denver auctions

In March, we held 40 live unreserved equipment auctions across the world, from Jinan, China to Weyburn, Canada. Here are some highlights from a few of them…

March madness begins: Dubai, ARE & Fort Worth, TX, USA

On March 1-2, we held our first Dubai equipment auction of 2016, selling 2,000+ items for US41+ million—a 54% increase in sales compared to the March Dubai auction last year.

That same week, on March 2-3, we held a two-day auction in Fort Worth, selling 5,850+ equipment items and trucks—a new company record in Texas—for US$57+ million.

Ritchie Bros.’ largest Grande Prairie, AB, Canada auction ever

On March 14-15, we sold 2,500+ equipment items and trucks for 250+ sellers at our Grande Prairie auction. As equipment rolled into view, one after the other, it was clear that records would be broken at the auction. By auction’s end, CA$62+ million (US$46+ million) of equipment had been sold, and more than 7,150 people had registered to bid—both new records for the Grande Prairie site.

Specific equipment highlights included:

  • 10 Komatsu PC490LC-10 hydraulic excavators sold for a combined CA$2.5+ million
  • Two 2012 Caterpillar 730 articulated dump trucks sold for a combined CA$430,000
  • A 2009 Caterpillar D8T dozer sold for CA$335,000
  • Two 2015 Kenworth T800 T/A sleeper winch tractors sold for a combined CA$320,000

Even a snowstorm couldn’t stop this exciting auction from taking off. On March 17-18, Ritchie Bros. conducted a massive auction at our Denver, CO site. The Denver auction broke site records across the board, including total sales (US$46+ million), total registered bidders (5,950+), total lots sold (3,950+) and number of sellers (450+).

Some equipment highlights include:

  • Two Peterbilt 379 tri-drive hydro vac trucks sold for a combined US$555,000
  • Four John Deere 624K wheel loaders sold for a combined US$460,000
  • A 2013 Volvo L120G wheel loader sold for US$215,000
  • A 2003 Terex HC80 80-ton crawler crane sold for US$212,500

All lots in the Denver auction, as the rest of our auctions, were sold to the highest bidder, with no reserve prices and no minimum bids.
