The Netherlands - known for its tulips, windmills, Heineken, Gouda cheese and our Moerdijk auction site. OK, so maybe equipment auctions are not one of the first things that spring to mind when you think of The Netherlands, but at Ritchie Bros., this site holds a special place in our hearts and our company history.

We moved to our permanent site in Moerdijk in 1998

We conducted our first European auctions in 1987 in Liverpool, UK and in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and began holding unreserved public auctions on a regular basis in The Netherlands. After many successful years of auctions for buyers and sellers alike at a site in the Port of Rotterdam, we moved to our permanent site in Moerdijk in 1998, and officially opened the auction building and office in 1999.

Our official auction building and office opened one year later in 1999

Home to some of our biggest equipment and truck auctions in Europe, most of the Moerdijk auctions run two days in length and are known for attracting international crowds bidding in person and online from 80 countries on average. At our most recent Moerdijk auction in December 2014, we sold 2300+ items for 300+ sellers and 1440+ people from 86 countries registered to bid.
