Two-day auction in Fort Worth sets new state records

On September 23-24, 2015, thousands of people could be seen piling into our Fort Worth, Texas auction site to bid on some quality heavy equipment and trucks. The two-day unreserved public auction attracted more than 4,325 bidders, including 2,675+ online bidders.

“We saw strong participation onsite and online from around the world in this week’s Fort Worth auction, helping us achieve record sales,” says Dolan Aucoin, Regional Sales Manager, Ritchie Bros. “Approximately 70 percent of the equipment was purchased by out-of-state buyers from as far away as Germany, Thailand and Kuwait.”

A large, quality selection of items drew the massive crowds, including a solid second day devoted to transportation.

“The transportation crowd was out in particularly large numbers for Day Two of the auction and were very active in their bidding,” says Dolan. We had a large selection of late model trucks, trailers and cranes in this sale and pricing was strong on all three.”

Ultimately, more than 3,775 items were sold in the auction for 475+ sellers.

Equipment selling highlights at a glance:

  • Six Grove GMK5135 135-ton 10x6x10 all terrain cranes sold for a combined US$4.6+ million
  • Three Grove TMS9000E 110-ton 8x4x4 hydraulic truck cranes sold for US$1.9+ million
  • A 2012 Grove GMK5275 275-ton 10x6x10 all terrain crane sold for US$1.2+ million
  • A 2009 Link-Belt 218 HSL 110-ton crawler crane sold for US$380,000
  • Two 2009 Caterpillar 140M motor graders sold for a combined US$280,000
  • A 2011 Caterpillar D6T XL crawler tractor sold for US$150,000
  • A 2005 Caterpillar 815F compactor sold for US$170,000
  • A 2011 Komatsu PC200LC-8 hydraulic excavator sold for US$115,000

Record-breaking total and online sales

With such a tremendous inventory of equipment and trucks, the Fort Worth auction sold more than US$70 million in total sales, destroying our previous Texas auction record. Included in those numbers is the US$34+ million sold to online bidders, making for another record broken for Ritchie Bros. online sales in Texas.
