Dozens of cranes hanging over the Wyoming sky. Hundreds of engines rumbling and roaring to life. Thousands of people all over the world ready to bid.

These were just some of the sights and sounds you could find at Ritchie Bros. auctions in 2015—and what a year it was.

We held equipment auctions in 15 countries, including some of the biggest auctions in company history, with records broken and milestones met. Enjoy these photos and videos from our 2015 auctions around the world!

CANADA – our largest Canadian equipment auction to date

It’s hard to appreciate just how BIG our April 2015 auction in Edmonton, Alberta was—until you see the auction site from the air. CA$215+ million (US$177 million) of equipment and trucks. Close to 8,000 lots. More than 14,000 bidders.

CANADA – a record-breaking equipment and truck auction in Toronto

On the other side of Canada, our Toronto, Ontario site held its largest-ever auction in December 2015. Among 2,700+ items sold: 290+ transport trucks.

CHINA – equipment auctions in three Chinese cities in 2015

Ritchie Bros. held its first auction in China in 2013, at our auction site in Beijing. In 2015, we held equipment auctions in three Chinese cities: Beijing, Zhengzhou and Jinan. Sometimes it makes more sense to take the auction to the equipment—and conduct a full-service, professional auction at a temporary site.

FRANCE – one of 400 auctions conducted so far in Europe

We reached a big milestone in 2015: our 400th auction in Europe. We have auction sites in six European countries, including France, where this video was filmed in March 2015:

GERMANY – 330+ tractors sold at one auction in Meppen

We held equipment auctions in both Munich and Meppen, Germany in 2015. Our Meppen auctions are widely recognized as the biggest farm equipment auctions in Europe. See for yourself in this video, filmed in November 2015:

MEXICO – our 100th truck and equipment auction in Mexico!

Ritchie Bros. has been holding auctions in Mexico since 1995. We have a permanent auction site in Polotitlán, and held our 100th Mexico auction at the site in Dec 2015.

NEW ZEALAND – our first auction in NZ since 1998

In April 2015 we held our first auction in New Zealand since 1998; the auction attracted 500+ equipment buyers from across the country and beyond. We’ll be back in Hamilton for another auction in Feb 2016.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – US$42 million heavy equipment auction in Dubai

We conduct four heavy equipment auctions at our Dubai auction site each year. More than 900 people registered to bid on 2600+ items at our September 2015 auction, which totaled US$42 million in heavy equipment sales.

USA – US$500+ million of equipment sold at Texas auctions

Ritchie Bros. had a big year in Texas: we helped our customers sell more than US$500 million of equipment and trucks at auctions in the state, including our largest Texas auction ever.

In September 2015 we sold US$70+ million of equipment at our Fort Worth auction—including the cranes seen in this video:

USA – a record-breaking crane auction in Wyoming

Energy Transportation’s Dan McGlade sold US$54 million of equipment at a Ritchie Bros. auction in March 2015—the largest single-owner auction in our history. Check out the yard full of cranes and heavy spec trucks and trailers in this drone video:
